ALISON BROWN - A.U.K.A

Alison started Ballet and Highland Dancing at an early age and attended The Madelaine Kelly and Pam Dignan Dancing Schools in Aberdeen. She completed all ISTD grade exams and competed in numerous highland dancing competitions.

At the age of 12, Alison was accepted for The Aberdeen Children's Theatre whereby she performed in various shows. At the end of the course, she received the Best all rounder trophy.  At the same time, Alison danced with the Scottish Ballet in The Nutcracker and a few years later she performed with Mervyn Conns touring production of Annie at His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen.

Alison's career continued at The Edinburgh Theatre School where she studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Singing and Drama.  She gained Elementary RAD Ballet and Intermediate certificates in ISTD Tap, Jazz and Ballet. She also passed exams in Dance History and Anatomy.

In 1994, Alison returned to Aberdeen where she assisted an ex dance teacher before setting up her own School, which ran successful for 6 years.  Alison staged three shows and put many pupils through their UKA exams, including Majors and entered pupils in numerous dance festivals throughout Scotland.

In her spare time, Alison choreographed hair shows for an Aberdeen salon and a musical production for her old High School. Alison previously managed, choreographed and performed in a 70's dance troupe.

In recent years, Alison has taught pupils dance at Fettes College, Edinburgh and at Heriot Watt University, Galashiels. Alison is looking forward to teaching for The Manor School of Ballet.
