
DEBRA-ANN WAUGH (Fellow U.K.A)
Debra started dance classes at the age of 3 and successfully competed in Stage dance and Highland competitions throughout the UK.When Debra was a teenager she realised that she wanted to make dancing her career and attended The Academy of Ballet in Edinburgh with Joan and Jack Spurgeon and the Dorothy Young School of Highland dancing.
Debra progressed with her career in dance and started her own school, teaching Highland, Tap, Ballet and Jazz. She has entered several pupils into competitions where many have won championships in the UK, Canada and USA. She still runs her own dance school, whereby she has choreographed a number of shows.
Debra has also taught at the Army School of Piping and Drumming at Glencourse Barracks, teaching soldiers the Art of Highland Dancing. Some of which have completed examinations and danced at the birthday celebrations for Her Majesty the Queen.
Throughout Debra's career she has choreographed for the Craigmillar Community Arts Festival and took part in an Edinburgh Fringe Festival show, "for aw that" directed by John Murtach of River City.
Whilst teaching Highland dancing, seven pupils have been selected to dance at the World Famous Edinburgh Military Tattoo and summer seasons at the Prestonfield House Hotel.
