THE SCHOOL
Pupils are accepted from the age of 2 1/2 years, progressing through The Royal Academy of Dance Children's Classical Ballet Grades. The younger pupils can choose to participate in United Kingdom Alliance Awards. Major syllabus is also studied with The Royal Academy of Dance and Imperial Society of Teachers of dancing, at both dancer and teacher levels.JAZZ & TAP Jazz and Tap classes are held as one combined class offered initially to pupils at Grade 1 ballet level (7 years old and upwards) with an option to work towards exams in United Kingdom Alliance Awards.
HIGHLAND CLASSES Classes are held for children aged 7 years and older.
SINGING A singing group has been set up to help pupils develop their voice and learn to sing in harmony. Solo work is also taught which encourages pupils to gain confidence in their singing and prepares senior pupils for auditions. They cover a variety of different music genres and perform small concerts throughout the year. Pupils accepted from 10 years of age.
ADULT CLASSES The school runs adult evening classes in Classical Ballet, Keep-fit and Tap.
NURSERY SCHOOLS Classes are also taught in Nursery Schools throughout the City of Edinburgh. Please contact our office for more details.
PERFORMANCE CLASSES The school awards Scholarships annually to selected pupils. Auditions are held in the autumn term for pupils from Grade 4 Standard to major level. The Scholarship is designed for pupils wishing to study dance as a career and Guest Teachers are invited to teach these classes, offering pupils a chance to experience other techniques and forms of dance.
SHOWS Shows are performed every 2 years. Junior School performances will take place in either Easter or Christmas Terms (Babies, Nursery, Primary 1, Primary 2, Grade 1 and Grade 2 beginners). Senior School performances will take place in Summer Term (Grade 2 Presentation and upwards).
PARENTS DAYS Periodically parents are invited to see the work of their child in class and will be invited by letter to join them. We do not allow parents to watch the class out with these selected dates.
